Blended approach

Our tutoring approach is varied and dynamic.  We provide one to one sessions, group sessions as well as workshops over the school holidays and during school term.  The lessons  are interactive, specific and directly linked to the current KS2 National Curriculum.

We use a multifaceted approach to ensure a good fit between the child and the task at hand.  There are no booklets or workbooks for pupils to work through serially; therefore, each child's learning plan is based on their current attainment level.  Our blueprint is the National Curriculum and each child’s learning style and ability helps to chart the path for their development.

For English, we ascertain vocabulary range and domain knowledge which is crucial for cloze passages.  We then establish a plan to ensure that the student is secure in critical analysis required for effective reading and comprehension.  This includes skills to differentiate facts from opinion, determine the correct sequence of events as well as cause/effects and literary devices.  With our keen interest in children and knowledge of the learning process, we empower the most reluctant writer to share their dreams and experiences in the written form.

FAQ

1. DO YOU ASSIST WITH 11 PLUS MOCK RESULTS

As students start to receive their mock results, you may need to review your strategy to make the most out of the whole process. A focused group (maximum of 3 students) has the potential to nail down the details for any area(s) of weakness: Grammar(clauses, phrases), Vocabulary range development, creative writing or Reading and Comprehension techniques.

2. DO YOU CATER FOR PUPILS WHO DO NOT INTEND TO DO THE 11 PLUS?

Yes.  We cater for all KS2 requirements in English and Mathematics.  We also provide tutoring for Senior school English Language and Literature, up to GCSE level.

3. WHAT GEOGRAPHICAL AREA DO YOU COVER?

We do both online and on-site training. Online training is delivered by sharing the screen using a Whiteboard.  The student is able to see, hear and write on the Whiteboard.  You will require broad band connection, a touch screen laptop, printer and scanner.

4. DO YOU HAVE A BOOKET OR WORKBOOK THAT COVERS EVERYTHING MY       CHILD NEEDS FOR 11 PLUS?

We  assess each child to determine the next step in their learning. We do not have a booklet that we follow serially and we do not have a set publisher.  This provides us the flexibility to put your child at the centre of their learning plan and develop material that is tailored to their needs, suits their learning style and pace.
